Some conversations need an interpreter in the room. A deposition where every word matters as a matter of legal record. A focus group where a researcher needs to observe participant reactions directly. A trade conference where delegates are speaking and listening in different languages across a full day of sessions. A factory tour where a team of engineers is walking through a facility and communication needs to happen in real time as they move.
Multilingual Connections provides professional onsite interpretation in 75+ spoken languages, plus American Sign Language (ASL), for exactly these settings, no matter the industry or the size of the event. Our interpreters are selected for language pair, subject matter expertise, and the specific demands of the environment they’re stepping into.

Onsite interpretation looks different depending on the setting, and we bring the right interpreter and format for each one.
The two main types of onsite interpretation work very differently, and choosing between them is mostly a question of format and setting.
Consecutive interpretation means the speaker pauses after each short segment while the interpreter relays what was said in the target language. It’s well suited to depositions, medical appointments, immigration hearings, small group discussions, and any setting where participants speak in turns and a brief delay between languages is acceptable. No special equipment is required.
Simultaneous interpretation happens in real time alongside the speaker, with no pause between statement and interpretation. It’s what conferences, large presentations, and multilingual events need, where an audience can’t wait through interpreted pauses to hear what’s being said. Because simultaneous interpretation is cognitively demanding, interpreters typically work in pairs and alternate every 20 to 30 minutes.
Onsite simultaneous interpretation requires a booth setup and wireless receiver equipment distributed to participants in each target language. Multilingual Connections provides and manages all of this as part of the service, so you don’t need a separate vendor for the equipment side.
For events that are virtual or hybrid and don’t need onsite equipment, our remote simultaneous interpretation service delivers the same real-time quality without the physical setup.

Simultaneous interpretation means listening and speaking in two different languages at the same time, with no pause to think between them, which is far more cognitively demanding than it sounds. Interpreter fatigue research consistently shows accuracy drops and omissions increase the longer someone works without a break, which is why professional interpreters rotate every 20 to 30 minutes rather than pushing through solo.
Booking as early as possible is recommended, particularly for less common languages, specialized subject matter, or simultaneous interpretation requiring equipment coordination. ASL interpreters in particular often need more lead time, since the pool of qualified onsite ASL interpreters in a given area is smaller. For time-sensitive needs, contact us and we’ll confirm what’s available.
Not automatically. Interpreters are typically booked for a set window, so running long can mean asking them to stay past their scheduled time, which isn’t always guaranteed depending on their next commitment. If your agenda has a history of running over, build buffer time into the original booking rather than hoping it works out on the day.
Where possible, yes, worth requesting specifically if continuity matters. The same interpreter across multiple days means less time re-establishing context each morning and more consistency in how recurring terminology gets handled. For simultaneous work requiring a pair, we try to keep the same team together across the full event.
Typically handled with portable equipment, a wireless system the interpreter and group can wear while walking, rather than a fixed booth. The interpreter stays close enough to hear clearly over ambient noise while relaying in real time as the group moves. Worth flagging this format specifically when booking, since it changes both the equipment and the interpreter matched to the assignment.
